 Airbus A330 “HB-IQR” enters service for SWISS

The SWISS fleet today welcomed its eleventh Airbus A330 and twentieth long-haul aircraft to commercial service today. Bearing the registration letters HB-IQR, the A330 took off for Montreal on its first SWISS flight at mid-day today. As announced back in June, SWISS will use this additional aircraft to add frequencies on various intercontinental routes to North America, the Middle East and Africa.

Qantas Group value based airline Jetstar will replace Qantas Airways services from Cairns to Nagoya and Osaka from mid-2007.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Qantas Group, Mr Geoff Dixon, said the Jetstar cost structure and product offering was much better suited for the routes.

 easyJet boosts order for Airbus A319s by 52 aircraft

UK-based low-cost carrier easyJet has signed a firm contract with Airbus for an additional 52 Airbus A319s, taking their total orders for the type to 192.

The order propels easyJet to one of Airbus' biggest customers worldwide. In addition, easyJet has also taken an option on another 75 A319s.

In keeping with easyJet's existing Airbus A319 fleet, the new aircraft will seat 156 passengers in an all-economy layout.

Swiss International Air Lines will operate more intercontinental flights as of the new winter timetable, the increase made pos-sible by the integration of two additional Airbus A330 aircraft in-to the fleet in November and December.

 Lufthansa expands route network this winter

Lufthansa is further expanding its global network. In the forthcoming winter season, it will offer flights to a total of 183 destinations in 78 countries (winter 2005/2006: 181 destinations in 76 countries).

Available capacity across the network will be increased by 3.3 per cent.
